Sample Answer
Well, this spring festival I went to countryside with my parents to visit some relatives there. The village is located in xxx province and actually was my first time to go there.
So when we arrived, my cousin showed me around. We walked around the village and I saw many things that I could never see in the city. Like I saw so many wild animals such as Roosters and goats. And then we walked to a hill and we decided to go up the hill. It was not very high, but it still took us like half an hour to go through it. The hill was really wild.
There were weeds everywhere and also many flowers and wild fruits alongside the path. It was very quiet though. I could even hear birds singing all the way. And then when we got to the top, there was a temple there. It was a small Buddhist temple. There was only one Buddha in the temple. Local people always go to this temple to pray for something during big festivals.
And also the scenery on the top was really beautiful. I could almost see the whole village there. And I saw many houses with smoke coming out of the chimney. The scenery was so peaceful and impressive. You know, it was a great day as well. The sun was shining and everything was so rosy, so we decided to have a rest there.
We had some snacks and we also, you know, talk about our lives. After a while, we just went back home and I think I had a lot of fun. You know, the scenery was so great. And I also got to know the whole village and the relatives there.
So that was a great trip and I want to go there again in the future.

1. Do people in your country like to go hiking?
Well, yes, many of you in China likes to go hiking.
Hiking can be one of the entertainment for young people and old people in China.
Sometimes they will go above the hill or go to the campsite, go with several friends or go with themselves.
Hiking is a very common sport in China, thus a lot of people do it. They do it for free or do it as a hobby. We do think hiking is good for physics health and psychology health, So a lot of people in China make hiking as one of their hobbies.
Recently it tend to become a sport enjoying with friends.
2. Do most people prefer to live in big cities or in the countryside?
Yes, definitely.
I think people prefer to live in metropolis or some first year cities like New York or, you know, Washington DC and Hong Kong or Shanghai and so on, where you can enjoy more convenient facilities and amenities, you know, like the hospitals, the traffic systems and educational resources.
So both old people and some youngers today would like to live in this kind of areas.
And for those young generations, they are more focused on the job opportunities.
I think in the big cities you can easily find some resources, you know, no matter in the state owned companies or some international ones, you don’t have to worry about the job vacancy in terms of the educational resources, which is also a hot issue that most parents will focus on.
In most of these places it is quite abundant, we have great teaching resources and good teachers, universities and high schools.
So of course it’s a better place to live than in the countryside.
3. Do people go to the countryside to travel or to live?
Well, I think most of the people prefer to travel to the countryside instead of living there because living there has a lot of important factor and it cannot be considered by a very short period. It should be decided after a long term decision. So most people tend to go there by travel.
Countryside also got a lot of downed views, like it is not convenient, this technology is not developed, people might not develop themselves very well in the countryside than in the city. So most of people choosing to go there for travel just for changing their views and makes them feel more relaxed from the job they get in the city.
4. What kind of people would like to stay in the countryside?
People who are passionate about agriculture and rural lifestyles often choose to live permanently in the countryside.
Living in the rural area allows them to grow their own food, adopt more sustainable lifestyle and actively support local farming communities.
A well known example is Jeremy Clarkson, who reinvented himself as a farmer manager in his show Clarkson’s Farm, highlighting the rewarding challenges of rural life and inspiring viewers with his commitment.
Besides, rural areas often build close knit communities, which can be appealing to those who prefer a more supportive and connected social environment. This desire for a stronger sense of belonging and community may lead people to settle in the countryside, where neighbors often know each other and social bonds are highly valued.
For example, young families or retirees may be drawn to rural life to enjoy deeper, more personal connections with others.
6. What are the differences between the city and the countryside?
While with the rapid development of the economy, the gap between urban and rural life has actually narrowed significantly. However, there are still some notable differences that shape the experiences of living in these two environments.
In the countryside, people often enjoy more living space and better air quality.
The rural community tends to be close knit, with neighbors often knowing each other well and forming strong bonds. This foster a sense of belonging and security.
Additionally, rural residents often have the opportunity to engage in agricultural activities, such as growing their own vegetables. Life in the countryside usually follows a more relaxed and slower pace, which can be beneficial for mental well-being.
In contrast, city life is marked by convenience and efficiency. Services like food delivery and online shopping are more readily available, making daily tasks more manageable.
However, cities are typically more densely populated, which can lead to a sense of isolation, as neighbors often remain strangers. This creates a paradox where people are physically closer but socially distant. This fast-paced urban lifestyle can be both exhilarating and stressful, demanding constant adaptation and resilience.
cities offer a wider range of entertainment options and cultural activities, contributing to a more dynamic and diverse social environment. So while both lifestyles have their unique advantages and challenges, the choice between them largely depends on personal preferences and priorities.
