Sample Answer 1
Well, there’s one foreign country that’s been on my mind for quite some time now, and that’s the United States of America. (FYI, there are various countries that I wish to go, say, the UK, Japan, South Korea, etc.) But you know, the US is the first foreign country I’ve heard about since I was a kid.
It’s like this giant magnet that pulls you in with all its economy, technology, culture, diverse cuisine, and, of course, the iconic movies.
Every time I think about it, I get all excited. l’ve learned so much about America through books, movies, TV shows, and the internet. It’s fascinating how they blend their traditions with modern lifestyle. I’m particularly intrigued by how their culture and way of life differ from ours in China. I mean, just imagine the vibrant street art in New York or the laid-back vibe of California – it’s like a whole different world.
I’d love to go there with my buddy, who’s equally as passionate about America as I am. We’ve talked about renting a car and going on a long road trip, starting from the sunny beaches of California, driving through the heartland of Kentucky and Texas, and finally ending up in the bustling cities of the East Coast like New York, Washington D.C., and Boston. Just the thought of experiencing all that American scenery and culture firsthand is thrilling.
And oh, I can’t forget about Hollywood. I’ve always wanted to walk down those famous streets and see how the movie magic happens. Plus, a visit to Kentucky for some authentic KFC – who knows, maybe I’ll even get to see a big farm up close! And then, heading to the East, checking out the financial hub of Wall Street, the majestic Statue of Liberty, and just soaking in the urban vibe of New York and Boston. Lastly, a little relaxation in Miami, soaking up the sun on their beautiful beaches,
comparing them to our own.
So, yeah, a trip to America is definitely on my bucket list. It’s a dream destination that just keeps calling me!
Part 3
1. What do you think of national identity?
Wow, this is a rather hard topic. I think a person’s national identity refers to the sense of belonging he or she has to a culture or a nation.
As I see it, it’s pretty important as it gives us a notion to know where we come from and the unique traditions, values, and history that shape our culture.
Also, it gives us a bit of pride and a connection to our roots, you know? But at the same time, I think it’s crucial to stay open-minded and appreciate other national identities too. We should be proud of ourselves, but we shouldn’t belittle others.
2. What are the advantages of working in an international company?
Oh, there are quite a few!
Firstly, you get exposed to diverse cultures and ways of thinking, which can be really enriching.
Plus, you often have opportunities to travel and work in different countries, broadening your horizons.
Another big plus is the networking – you meet people from all over the world, which can open up so many career opportunities.
And more importantly, you can learn some skills, like cross-cultural communication and cooperation that are highly valued.
3. How does travelling aboard affect young people?
Well, how? That’s a bit hard. For starters, it teaches them independence and problem-solving skills. They learn to adapt to new environments and manage situations on their own.
Plus, seeing how people live in different parts of the world can be quite eye-opening, fostering empathy and understanding. It often sparks a sense of
curiosity and a desire to learn more about the world.
And who knows, it might even inspire some to pursue careers in international relations or global issues!
4. How do people get information about other countries?
Nowadays, there are so many ways! The internet, obviously, is a treasure trove of information.
People can watch documentaries, read blogs, or even join online forums where locals share their experiences.
Social media is also a big one – seeing posts from friends or influencers who have traveled somewhere can be really engaging.
Books and movies are classic ways too, giving you a glimpse into the culture and way of life.
And of course, word of mouth from friends and family who’ve been there.
5. Do you think reading is a good way to get to know other countries? Why?
Absolutely! Reading, especially travel books and novels set in different countries, can transport you there without leaving your armchair. It’s a fantastic way to dive deep into the culture, traditions, and mindset of people in other parts of the world. You get to know the little nuances and details that might not come up in a quick internet search.
Plus, it often sparks your imagination and makes you feel more connected to the place.
6. What do you think makes countries different?
I’d say it’s a mix of things. Geography plays a big role – different climates, landscapes, and resources shape how people live and what they value.
History too, with its unique events and legacies, colors each country’s identity. Then there are religious and cultural influences, which can vary widely and create such diverse traditions and customs.
Language is another key factor, shaping how people think and communicate. Oh, plus, current political and social dynamics play a significant part in shaping a country’s character.
