Sample Answer
Well, I want to talk about the Beijing Stadium, which is also known as the birds nest. It’s a fascinating building.
The architecture is unique and incredible. It’s definitely the most extraordinary building I’ve ever been to. As for what it looks like, it’s actually specifically designed to look like a birds nest. The unique design sets it apart from any other stadium in the world. It’s one-of-a-kind.
Secondly, it’s massive. The sheer size of it is astonishing. It can hold almost 100,000 people, so if you’re anywhere in the vicinity of it, you can’t miss it. And it serves many purposes. It first rose to international prominence when it was the venue for the opening ceremonies of the Olympics in Beijing in 2008. But you can also go there to check out a live sporting event like a football match or take in a live concert.
A lot of big name bands and singers have shows there and there are a few reasons why I think it’s such an intriguing building. Firstly, it’s visually stunning. It’s covered in lights that just light up the sky at night with a variety of colours, so just seeing it is a spectacle.
Secondly, it’s an iconic landmark in Beijing, so every year thousands and thousands of tourists from all around the globe will flock to the birds nest to check it out.
If you’re going to Beijing, it’s a must visit place and definitely something to check off the bucket list.
Part 3
1. What types of buildings are popular in your country?
Well, this is a tricky question for me because, honestly, even though I live in a house every day, I don’t pay that much attention to buildings in general. But thinking about it, l’d say the most popular types of buildings in my country are the ones people live in, like traditional houses and modern apartments.
Cultural landmarks like palaces are incredibly popular here as well. For instance, the Forbidden City, once the home of Chinese emperors, is a stunning example of traditional Chinese architecture and a major symbol of our history. It draws millions of tourists every year, not just for its architecture but also for its deep cultural significance.
Apart from those, temples and museums are widely appreciated, both for their historical value and as places where people can learn more about our culture.
2. Is it worth spending a lot of money on the exterior appearance of a building?
Spending money on a building’s exterior can be worth it, as it enhances the city’s visual appeal and can attract tourists or investors. For example, iconic buildings like the Sydney Opera House or the Bird’s Nest in Beijing are not only functional but also symbols of cultural identity However, focusing too much on appearance might lead to higher costs or impractical designs. In my opinion, a balance between aesthetics and functionality is essential to ensure the building serves its purpose while looking impressive.
3. Is it more important for a building to look good on the outside or on the inside?
Both the exterior and interior of a building are important, but their significance
depends on the building’s purpose. The exterior is crucial because it creates the first impression and contributes to the city’s overall aesthetic, like modern skyscrapers in Shanghai. On the other hand, the interior is equally vital as it directly affects the comfort and functionality for users, such as in offices or homes. In my opinion, a balance between the two is ideal, but the priority should align with the building’s intended use
4. Why do people like to visit historical sites?
People like to visit historical sites because they offer a unique connection to the past. For example, places like the Great Wall or the Forbidden City allow visitors to learn about history and culture firsthand, which can be more engaging than reading books. Additionally, these sites often represent a nation’s identity and pride, making them emotionally significant. Finally, many historical sites feature stunning architecture or natural beauty, attracting tourists who appreciate aesthetics.
Overall, historical sites serve as both educational and cultural treasures
