(Update 2025) IELTS Speaking Part 1 Topic Flowers

1. Do you love flowers?

Yes. I mean, who doesn’t? I do love flowers, but I wouldn’t intentionally buy say a bouquet of flowers because for one thing, I don’t think it’s worth the money.
For another, I would say I’m just not really good at keeping plants alive at home, so appreciating those flowers from a distance could be just enough for me.

2. Do you know anyone who loves flowers?

Yeah, I know a lot of my friends. They all love flowers, and some of them even change their flowers on a weekly basis. And whenever they buy the new ones, they would just take some beautiful pictures of it and post it on social media.
According to them, they said that buying flowers could really bring them good mood. I mean, I could understand but I couldn’t really relate. So yeah, I know quite a lot of them.

3. Are there a lot of flowers where you live?

In my neighborhood, I wouldn’t say, you know, people will intentionally plant some flowers. It’s just there are quite a lot of trees. And during the spring times you could see like cherry blossoms and even Peach blossoms through through the window.
So during the spring times you could see a lot of flowers. But other than that, it all just green plants.

4. Do you take photos of flowers in your daily life?

I don’t really have this habit of taking photos, but as I’ve mentioned, when I see those beautiful Peach blossoms and cherry blossoms through my study room window, I would like to capture that just beautiful moment. I really don’t need to travel a long distance to somewhere just to appreciate the cherry blossom like anyone else. I just need to stay in my study room and, you know, see it through my window. It’s just very beautiful. It’s way more magnificent than it looks on the photo. So yeah, I do love taking pictures of them.

5. Do people in your country often send flowers to others?

I think people in China, of course, compared with Westerners, I don’t think we send that many flowers to others. But gradually in recent years, I think more and more people started to have this habit of sending flowers either to their girlfriends on their anniversaries or to their parents or teachers on the Mother’s Day or the Teachers Day. And sometimes when we first visit other people’s home, we also would like to bring a bouquet of flowers. I think it’s just a good manner and for anyone receiving flowers could really bring a good mood.

Sure, I’m a big fan of flowers. I mean they’re natures masterpieces, right?
I particularly enjoy flowers in white color like Lotus instead of those pinky ones.
I found them more sacred.

2. Do you know anyone who loves flowers?

Well, I think most of the people I know love flowers. I mean, what’s not like?
My parents enjoy taking photos of flowers in different seasons, and my friends prefer to use flowers to decorate their homes. The flowers are just gifts from nature.

3. Are there a lot of flowers where you live?

I live in the southeast part of China, where the climate is quite suitable for many flowers. We have cherry blossoms, tulips and Peach blossoms in springs, then Lotus in the summer, and then plum blossoms in winters. So basically I can enjoy various kinds of flowers throughout a year.

4. Do you take photos of flowers in your daily life?

Yep. I always take photos of beautiful flowers when I’m walking on the streets or when I visit the parks. I just can’t help taking photos of them because you know their colors and shapes and everything are just so amazing.
Along with the green leaves and blue sky. It’s such a wonderful picture that I have to record.

5. Do people in your country often send flowers to others?

Well, I think young people are more into sending flowers to others.
For example, on Valentine’s Day, boys will send their girlfriends some roses to show their love, and also on Mother’s Day, children will buy some carnations for their mother.
