IELTS Speaking Part 1 Topic Meet New Friends/ People
Sample Answer 1
1. Do you like making friends?
Not so much, to be honest. I like having a few close friends whom I can rely on and share my thoughts and experiences with, but I don’t necessarily seek out new friendships all the time.
I find that quality over quantity matters more to me in friendships, and I prefer to maintain deep connections with a select few rather than having a vast network of acquaintances.
2. Did you make a lot of friends when you were a child?
No, I didn’t have a lot of friends growing up. I just had a few friends from my neighborhood and my class. We were a tight-knit group of around 5 to 7 friends, and we spent a lot of time together playing, studying, and sharing our childhood adventures. It was a comfortable and supportive environment, and we were all quite content with our small circle of friends.
3. Have you made any new friends recently?
Yes, I have. One of the places is my English class. Since language learning often involves group activities and discussions, it’s been a great opportunity to meet and get to know some new students in the same class.
Additionally, I’ve joined a football club in my university, where l’ve made some really great friends there too.
4. What do you often talk about with your new friends?
Oh, our conversations cover a wide range of topics, like sports, relationships, teachers, our homework, and our future prospects. But of course, I just talk about some private issues with my closest friends, and I might share some of my ideas and insights with someone that I made friends with recently.
5. Do you like meeting new people?
– Yes, I like meeting new people because it’s exciting to learn about different cultures and experiences. It broadens my perspective and helps me grow as a person.
– No, I’m not very comfortable meeting new people because I get nervous in unfamiliar situations. I prefer sticking with people I already know.
6. Where can you meet new people?
– You can meet new people in places like school, social clubs, or online communities. These are good places to connect with others who share similar interests.
– I think meeting new people often happens at social events, like parties or gatherings organized by friends. It’s easier to meet someone new when the environment is casual.
7. Do you enjoy talking to new people?
– Yes, I enjoy talking to new people because it’s a chance to exchange ideas and learn something new. I find it refreshing to hear different perspectives.
– No, I don’t really enjoy it because I’m more comfortable talking to people I already know. Talking to new people can sometimes feel awkward or forced.
