(Update 2025) IELTS Speaking Part 1 Topic Patience

I do reckon myself as a very patient person and I usually get this feedback from people around me like my friends and my family members, saying that I’m rather patient and tend to have a quite stable mindset. So yeah, I do believe I’m a patient person.

Well, I mean interestingly, the first occasion that pops up in my mind would be the time when I when I’m waiting in quite a long queue for a popular restaurant or for a tourist destination in a hot summer day. I think it’s not just about waiting in line,
I think it’s also related, very closely related to the weather itself. Scorching hot summer days could just drive me crazy. And under that circumstance, I tend to lose patience for nearly everything.

I feel OK usually, no matter whether it’s something that I’m interested in or something that I’m not that into.
I think especially when it comes to something I’m interested in, like playing big jigsaw puzzles or playing Lego, then I could literally spent like the whole day staying there focusing on this thing without doing anything else. I think it’s not boring at all. It’s kind of a way for me to relax and clear up my mind.
Of course, if it’s something that I’m not that into, maybe it’s not that relaxing, but I could manage to finish it. But that’s probably also the last time that I do that.So in general, I feel quite OK.

I think yes, because I’m personally a foreign language teacher, which means that I need to impart knowledge to those people who are not very familiar or not very good at English. So I think no matter what you teach, being a teacher just requires patience. It’s probably the first and foremost quality I think a teacher needs to possess. You got to know that what’s interesting or what’s easy for you might not be that easy for your students. So I think, yeah, being a teacher really requires patience.

I do believe yes, I might be more patient compared with when I was young, even though my parents used to say that I’m one of those kids who show great patience. Still, I would say maybe now due to my work or due to the fact that I’ve already grown up and I become more mature than before. I think this all helps me to become more patient than before.

Well, I don’t think so.
Sometimes I can get a little hot headed, especially when I’m in a hurry or in a trouble. I will become impatient because I just won’t get things down nice and quick. But you know, this attitude can do no good to me, so I’d better learn to be patient.

Well, for example, when I’m waiting in the line for something and the waiters just move and serve slowly, I will be mad and impatient. Or when I’m doing a puzzle and I just cannot find the right pieces. I will easily lose my patience.

Well, that really depends on the thing, right?
If it’s something interesting. Like playing a fun video game. Then I will be super excited and passionate. But If it’s something boring or even miserable like taking exams or attending a dull meeting. Then I will be upset and impatient.

I guess so, because I have to communicate with many people with different comprehensive ability. So I need to be patient with someone who cannot understand quickly and I need to explain to them for several times. If I’m not patient, I cannot do this job.

I think so. Before, when I was being impatient, my parents always put up with me and comforted me. But now as I grow up, I have learned how to be patient when I’m at school or at work because I have to be patient when dealing with different people in the society.
