IELTS Speaking Part 1 Topic Saying “Thank You”
Sample Answer 1
1. Have you ever sent a thank you card to others?
I would say it’s hard for me to recall, but I used to love writing handwritten letters to my friends and my family’s.
But a thank you card, probably to my mom I would say because every time, every year on her birthday. I like to write a handwritten letter to her expressing my love and also my thankfulness to her. So if that could be counted as a thank you card.
2. Do people in your country often say “thank you”?
Yeah. I do believe Chinese people have this kind of good habit of saying thank you whenever they receive like, a good service or when some strangers provide them some sort of helps. People like to say thank you afterwards, but usually among very close friends or family members, we are not that likely to say thank you a lot because it might sound a little bit cringey. And also sometimes we might consider saying thank you as being too polite. So it also means that you’re not that close, if that makes sense. But anyways, in general, we like to say thank you.
3. On what occasions do you say “thank you”?
Personally, I’m actually that kind of person who really likes to say thank you a lot on a lot of different occasions, even with my family members. And I feel like it’s like kind of my habit.
For example, when my mom give me a glass of water, I would say thank you.
Or when a stranger hold the door for me, then I would just say thank you.
Yeah, there are many occasions I might use this word.
4. Why do people need to say “thank you”?
I think it’s quite obvious that saying thank you means expressing your thankfulness to the other partner, meaning that you’re quite grateful for their help.
Even though it’s quite small, or even though they didn’t really ask for anything in return, I’m still saying thank you can not only express your thoughts, but also be a good way to recognize their devotion, which is quite important in some relationships. I would have to say so, yeah. That’s why people need to say thank you.
