1. Do you like swimming?

Honestly I wouldn’t say I’m a big fan of swimming, it’s a bit tiring and I’ve never felt completely comfortable because my skills aren’t the best. But to be fair I love just floating around and basking in the sun. That part feels incredibly relaxing.

2. Is it difficult to learn how to swim?

Oh for sure, learning to swim was tough for me. I remember as a kid it took me nearly 10 lessons just to learn how to float properly.
Even now, I’m not the strongest swimmer, but I can at least manage without feeling totally lost in the water.

3. Where do people in your country like to go swimming?

Well I gotta say, swimming pools are the go-to spots.
They’re everywhere and much safer with lifeguards around and clean water.
Some adventurous people prefer maybe rivers or lakes, but since there have been quite a few accidents, most people stick to pools.

4. What’s the differences between swimming in the pool and swimming in the sea?

Well, I guess the biggest difference is safety.
Pools are predictable and well monitored, making them feel super secure.
The sea on the other hand, is wild and unpredictable with waves and currents that can be a real challenge, even though it’s thrilling in its own way.

IELTS Speaking Part 1 Topic Swimming – Sample Audio 2 Question 1-2

1. Do you like swimming?

Yes, I do.
I really enjoy swimming, especially in hot weathers. It’s very refreshing to get into cold water and it’s also a nice way to exercise.

2. Is it difficult to learn how to swim?

It can be a big challenge for those who are afraid of water and the possibility of drowning.
These people may need a swimming coach to teach them on the side and to make them feel safe before they can learn the basic moves.
But for those who are more brave and willing to take risks, it only takes them a few hours or a couple of weeks to acquire this skill.

3. Where do people in your country like to go swimming?

I think most of us swim in swimming pools.
Swimming pools can be found in gym and the residential areas, especially in the South.
I think for those who live in coastal cities, they would just prefer to swim in the sea since the scenery is much better and it’s really nice to feel the sea breeze on the face while swimming.

4. What’s the differences between swimming in the pool and swimming in the sea?

I would say the biggest difference is safety. Swimming in the pool is much safer than swimming in the sea.

You see, when you swim in the pool, there’s always a lifeguard standing by in case of emergency, but in the sea drowning death is often noticed several hours later.

Besides, unlike in the pool, nothing in the sea is under control. For example, you can you can have very dangerous current that can drag swimmers away from the coast very fast. And there are also big waves sometimes.

Sometimes the weather can change very domestically too. So I think it’s a better choice to swim in a swimming pool.

Not really, cause I’m not good at swimming. I’m a little bit scared of water.

2. Is it difficult to learn how to swim?

I think so, especially for adults like me.
It’s quite hard because controlling my body in the water is not an easy thing.
But maybe it’s easier for babies or children since they were in a similar environment before they were born.

3. Where do people in your country like to go swimming?

Well, in cities it must be swimming pool where it’s all packed with loads of people, especially in summers.
But in countryside people prefer to go swimming in rivers or lakes.
They just feel more free and wild to swim in the nature.

4. What’s the differences between swimming in the pool and swimming in the sea?

Well, swimming in the swimming pool is safer without the waves and wild animals like sharks.
But swimming in the sea feels better.
The view is way greater than swimming in limited square box.
