IELTS Speaking Part 1 Topic Text Message

1. How often do you send text messages?

Well, almost everyday.
I think it’s something people cannot live without nowadays. I usually text my parents on a daily basis to know what they’re up to and also I will text my friends to do some catching up with them every now and then.

2. Is sending messages popular in your country?

Well, I think so.
Today, a large number of people have got their own smart phones and almost every single one of them has WeChat account. So sending messages on WeChat is highly popular in my country. It can offer various functions like, you know, sending voice messages or making video calls or even sending some stickers.

3. Did you send more messages when you were younger?

Definitely.
I used to send plenty of messages back then since there was no smartphone at that time and the only thing I could do with my phone was to make phone calls and to text my friends. So we used to talk a lot through texting. It was fun.

4. Do you reply to messages as soon as you receive them?

Well, that really depends on how urgent the messages are.
I mean, if it needs me to reply right away, like messages from my leaders or my professors, then I have to respond immediately. But if it’s not something urgent then I will take my time to reply.

1. How often do you send text messages?

Constantly. I text my friends every day.
Mostly memes and voice notes, plus family group chats blow up my phone every evening too.
Honestly, my fingers are basically professional textures now.

2. Is sending messages popular in your country?

Absolutely.
In China, messaging apps like WeChat are everywhere from ordering food to paying bills. Even my grandparents send messages daily. It’s basically our second language.

3. Did you send more messages when you were younger?

Not really.
In primary school I didn’t even have a phone, which is the past handwritten notes.
Then in middle school I got my first brick phone but it couldn’t go online. So texting was basically our lifeline. Since we couldn’t use phones during classes, every evening became this sacred messaging time.

4. Do you reply to messages as soon as you receive them?

Well, it depends.
If it’s urgent were from close friends. I replied for group chats or random forwards. Sometimes I would pretend I didn’t see them for hours.

1. How often do you send text messages?

Well, not that often to be honest.
These days, hardly anyone sends traditional text messages here. We mostly use WeChat, you know, which is like China’s version of WhatsApp. It’s super popular and way more convenient. With texting, you need the other person’s phone number and it just feels kind of slow and old school. On WeChat you can just search someone’s name, send a voice message, or even share pictures instantly. So yeah, I almost never use regular texting anymore.

2. Is sending messages popular in your country?

Definitely. It’s basically how we communicate everyday.
Whether it’s for work, school, or just chatting with friends, we’re constantly sending messages on WeChat. It’s just super fast and easy. Like you can’t reply with a voice message while you’re walking or send a quick emoji when you’re too lazy to type. I’d say messaging is totally a part of daily life here.

3. Did you send more messages when you were younger?

Well, not really.
When I was a kid there wasn’t much social media going on, so if you wanted to talk to someone you’d usually just call them on the phone. Now that WeChat and all these apps are everywhere, I definitely send way more messages than I used to. It’s just more convenient and it’s how everyone stays in touch now.

4. Do you reply to messages as soon as you receive them?

Yeah, I kind of have this habit, you know, Or maybe it’s a bit of OCD I don’t know.
I just can’t stand seeing unread messages sitting there. Even if I don’t really feel like replying, I’ll still open it and at least send a quick response just to clear that little red dot. Otherwise it honestly bugs me like crazy.
