(2024) IELTS Speaking Part 1 Topic Colours

For me, my favourite colour is pink. My preference for pink should be traced back to my primary school. At that time, I dreamed of being a princess and you know princess wear pink clothes. So, my wardrobe contains all shades of pinks. Many people say that pink is a childish colour, but i think this is a younger version of me. So, i keep it until now.

To be frank, I can’t think of any colours that i dislike. I love all kinds of colours. I believe there’s no such thing as an ugly or wrong colour. It’s just a matter of how you use it.

My friends and i all like black a lot. Like i said, it’s such a cool and sophisticated colour. I remember, last month we had a party, and we came up with a “dress code” which was “all black”. It was the coolest party ever. We were wearing black dresses, black suits, black overalls, black hats. We looked great together in photos.

I don’t like all white bedroom. White walls, white flooring, white curtains and white furniture. It reminds me of a hospital. It’s colourless and lifeless.

Black is one of my favorite colors. If you have watched my closet, you’ll know black is obviously my favorite color to wear. I’ve got plenty of black t-shirts, pants and black coats. I also like light blue and baby pink, lovely colors.

I hate the color purple. It’s like my least favorite color. I don’t know, purple looks dark and unusual. It makes me think about evil things like witches, demon and food in purple makes me lose my appetite.

It varies. Some of my friends like white or light colors, such as light yellow, light green, baby pink, while others like black or dark colors. It’s a lot about personal preference.

It’s probably purple or black. Purple kind of reminds me of something horrible, like ghosts or devil. Black stuff, like black walls is wired, and it’s very depressing it.
At night, these colors look strange and terrible, and purple in particular, is not allowed in my room.

My favorite color is blue. It’s the color of the sky and the sea, and it always makes me feel calm and relaxed. I love the way blue looks with everything, whether it’s a white t-shirt or a bright yellow sunflower.

I wouldn’t say there’s a color I actively dislike, but I’m not particularly fond of neon colors. They’re just a bit too loud and garish for my taste. I prefer colors that are less intense and more subdued. Neon shades seem to dominate the space they’re in, which can be overwhelming to the eyes.

My friends have varied tastes in colors. One of my friends loves green because it reminds her of nature and the outdoors.
Another friend is partial to red, finding it vibrant and full of energy. It’s interesting to see how personal color preferences can be and how they often reflect aspects of one’s personality.

I think an overly bright or neon shade would make me uncomfortable in my home. Home for me is a place of relaxation and peace, so I gravitate towards colors that create a serene atmosphere.
Bright, flashy colors would disrupt that sense of calm and make the space feel more chaotic than soothing.
