Questions

1. Do you think it is good for children to learn art?

Yes, I highly recommend that, but under the condition that the child is interested. I think learning art can really help develop the kid’s aesthetic taste and ability. It will lay a solid foundation for their future studies and life. Scientific researches have shown that kids who learn art have more developed right cerebral hemisphere than those who don’t.

2. What do you think of art education in the kindergartens?

I think that is very wise. The kindergarten period is very important during a person’s lifetime. And it is the golden period to explore a kid’s art talent. Kids learn very fast: painting, sketches, clay, model building, etc. I believe it is highly beneficial to cultivate a sense of beauty at this stage.

3. Do you often go to art galleries?

I want to, but unfortunately I don’t. That’s mainly because there aren’t so many good art galleries in the region where I live. While I lived in Beijing, I went to art exhibitions once a month.

4. Should the government build art galleries?

Yeah, I think the government should attach more importance to quality education and help develop students’ artistic abilities. I believe every kid is born with some artistic genes, but they are smothered in the process of exam-oriented education. The government should publicize the importance of learning art by building more art galleries.
