Sample Answers

1. How do you go to work/school?

Sample 1: Most days I will travel to school by riding a bike.

My campus is huge, and it will take me more than 30 minutes to walk to the faculty building from my dorm.

There are shared bikes that students can use at the front entrance of my dorm building, which are very helpful.

Sample 2: I typically commute to work/school by public transportation, specifically by taking the subway.

This is a very convenient option for me as there is a station just a few minutes’ walk from my home, and it directly connects to the area where my workplace/school is located.

Sample 3: Well, I typically use public transport, specifically the bus. I find it super convenient because there’s a bus stop right near my home.

Plus, it’s an eco- friendly option and helps me avoid the morning rush hour. Occasionally, when I’m in a hurry, I might hop on a bike.

2. What means of transport do you use when going for a trip from your workplace/school?

Sample 1: Bikes and subways are among the most popular types of transportation because my hometown is a crowded city where traffic is jammed all the time.

It is much quicker to ride a bike to the subway station, take the subway, then ride another bike to the destination than driving.

Sample 2: In my hometown, the most popular means of transportation is motorcycles.

They are incredibly versatile and well-suited to navigate through the narrow streets and heavy traffic.

Additionally, they are more affordable compared to cars and offer a quick way to get around.

Sample 3: In my hometown, the majority of people prefer bikes. The city has many dedicated bike lanes, making it safer and encouraging more people to pedal their way around.

It’s both healthy and environmentally friendly, so it’s a win- win!

3. Is driving to work popular in your country?

Sample 1: I study in a different province from my hometown. I’m not sure of the exact distance, but it takes about 5 hours to drive from my home to my university.

Therefore, I live on campus during my studies.

Sample 2: The distance from my home to my workplace/ school is approximately 10 kilometers.

I usually cover this distance in about 30 minutes by taking the subway.

It’s a reasonable commute, and I find it quite manageable.

4. Do you think people will drive more in the future?

Sample 1: Well, I think, actually, people will drive less.

Government across the world are encouraging public transportation because it is more environmentally friendly.

I think ultimately cities will be like Singapore, where public transportation is so convenient that people don’t want to drive.

Sample 2: I believe that with the continuous advancements in technology, there will be a shift towards more automated forms of transportation.

This means that in the future, people may rely less on driving themselves and more on self-driving cars or other autonomous vehicles.

This trend could lead to a decrease in individual car ownership and a more efficient use of transportation resources.

Sample 3: I reckon there’ll be a mix.

With the surge in electric cars and advancements in sustainable vehicle technology, some might be tempted to drive more.

However, as cities get more congested and public transport improves, many might lean away from personal cars.
